Veneers also known as ‘bonding,’ are layers of porcelain that dentists bond to a prominent tooth or teeth. They are used primarily to conceal etched, discolored or otherwise disfigured teeth. Most veneers require two visits of approximately one hour each. Veneers are permanent.
 
Unlike veneers, crowns comprise the majority of the tooth. Here in San Diego, Dr. Mafi uses crowns made with the highest quality materials available. The crown is used to cover and protect a broken tooth and is the color and shape of a natural tooth. This permanent procedure can usually be completed in two visits – the first appointment lasting about two hours and the second about one hour.
